My Fiesta - the pre Z4 workhorse

Hi Guys,

Thought some of you who have seen my posts might fancy seeing what I'm currently 'working with' on the way up to my dream z4. Does the job and more than i could've expected for a first car and 21st Birthday present. It's a 2009 Ford Fiesta Style + 1.25l. Shame about lack of alloys but i do like it.

Agreed for now but would really like to work my way towards something like yours, a 3.0 coupe in black or red.

We have a black 2009 1.4 petrol; fun to drive if a little thirsty for the performance on offer. Strangely had a couple of annoying problems such as a faulty boot switch (kept opening itself and finally gave up the ghost) and needed a new set of ignition leads at 18k miles to cure a fault where cylinder 3 would go down.

Yes it is quite fun to drive, despite the small engine. I can only dream of a 1.4! Fortunately no issues with mine, still going strong at 42,000 miles (granted i have only done 5,000 of those)

Sooo much to learn. Enjoy the journey.

i know it sounds pathetic doesn't it! A Z4 was actually on the shortlist until insurance was looked at and it just wasn't feasible then. You'll all be glad wen i finally make my Z4 purchase post here in a few years!

Great cars, very fun to drive.

We've had 3 now. First was a 1.25 82ps zetec:

Then a 1.0 ecoboost 100ps focus:

Traded in for another 1.25 zetec in Hot Magenta:

Then we Traded that in for an ST-3:

Oh wow, Ben, some lovely examples there! Was so close to a new shape fiesta (i love the 'aston martin' grill) but couldn't warrant the extra cost for just a first car! I think even when i have the Z4 a Fiesta ST would still be a great little run around. Tempted to do some mods to mine to 'sport' it up a bit but with the engine size it's probably not worth it. I do yearn for alloys though!

Surprisingly it still seems to impress my mates that my first car is actually pretty nice, think the red really gives it something else.

I have actually driven a number of other fiesta whilst both learning and as a work hire car. Learnt in a couple of fiestas as the instructor upgraded, culminating in a 1.5 Titanium diesel. Also had a Fiesta S with the 1.0 ecoboost engine for a work hire car. Boy did that make a great sound (surprisingly)!

Yeah the 1.0 is a fun little engine, I loved it.

Your shape fiesta is perfectly fine. My brother has one as a first car also. They're great little motors. The white and magenta ones went to Scotland and back without any problems, averaging 50mpg. Not bad at all!
