My car is most likely going to be totaled

Long story short. Hit some crap on the freeway at 65 mph. Undercarage and drivers front damage. Costs to repair is more than the car is worth. I am waiting to here some numbers from insurance. I am looking at other cars to replace mine.

I am thinking about the new one may not have some of the things I have currently. What should I get from my car? stereo amp, OEM alarm. I know where the amp is how about the alarm (where). I had premium sound in mine. Looking for thoughts. I have possession of the car at the moment. I will remove my Reinhold module and my hp air filter, and CD in the radio, tool kit, Floor mats.

What am I forgetting?

I had all options except Nav.

Sorry to hear about the incident. Difficult to know what value you might get from an insurance total right off without details of the vehicle - age, model, mileage etc.

04/04 build 2004 3.0 sport, premium, convenience, xenon headlights. above average condition, 152K miles, power top, heated seats, mirrors ( dimming, heated) oem alarm.

Bob, sorry to hear about your car. As long as you and the misses are ok, the car issues can be dealt with. Now you can get that coupe you've secretly been wanting. :poke:

Bob - I'm gutted for you. Despite the mileage and age your Zed was lovely and in great condition. I still have fond memories of driving it. :D

Think about swapping out the Xenons to someone without them. Change the headlights and LCM (switch) and it shoudl be good to go.

How about those chrome rims - they could be swapped out too.

What about the option of taking the cash then buying it back and fixing it yourself? Sometimes the numbers work when the car is valued low and the damage isn't major.

Man, that's sad. Sorry to hear about your car. Hope you find something soon. We all need to get together for a run. :driving:

Sorry to hear about that Bob!

THere are some nice 06-07 M's on flea Bay for 24K!!

Seems to me to be the way to go!!

Sorry to hear about your car Bob. Who would think that piece you hit would total a car. Now is time to get an M Like Mark said some good deals out there. Good luck. Hope to see you this year in Indiana.

Man that sucks! It's amazing how easily cars end up getting "totaled" these days. I guess that's just another aspect of our 'disposable' society.

Main thing is that you are not injured ... so go buy that M and make me jealous!

Glad to hear no physical damage to the two of you Bob! Tough to see this one go, however, like a few have suggested - great time to step into an M right now

Thank you to all for our concern. The metal came off the truck in front of us and hit the car and the rest is history. Structural damage to drivers front frame in the wheel area and more in the area of the drivers foot well area. The foot well area was lifted 1.5 inches, in a straight line fromthe dead pedal to the seat brackets. Brake lines gas tank, ECU box had a hole knocked in it, Shock tower had a rip in it, drivers head light now has condensation in it, every metal and plastic cover under the car, the D channel just inboard of the side skirt ( where the wiring runs ). Lots of damage on a 6 year old car with 152K on the dial. Less miles would have helped, however, not as much fun.

We are looking at it like this is a chance to get something newer, with less miles and less rock chips. LOL

We have looked at several cars and I am amazed at how people do not take care of their cars. I'm not just talking about rock chips and curb rash. Crap happens. I talking about cracked rotting rubber around windows, cars that have never seen any dent removal, cars that the soft top is in crap repair and have never seen a car cover or a garage. Then again I guess that is why the cars are on a used car lot.

We will find something we like at some point. Looking at single owner cars, from SoCal or AZ., or NM. We have found some nice ones as well, 15K, 30K, 50K cars. Test drives in cars with that few miles on them, point out the fact to me that I needed new bushings and shocks.

We are sorry to see the car go, however, there is also a positive side as well. Lots of memories and we are looking forward to some new ones. Sooner than later I hope, I am having withdraws and a touch of cabin fever.

Sorry to hear about this Bob!, Glad you and Robyn are okay.

Agree with looking into the //M's,,,,,will be real difficult to keep up with you then :D

Ouch, sounds lucky the metal went where it did and not over the hood/bonnet and cause worse damage to you guys.

Cabin fever? Is that something Coupe owners get in nice weather? :poke:

Sorry to hear about your car, initial post asked for things to remember to take out - you may want to remove the bluetooth kit if you had it.

why dont u see if any z4 members have worn seats and would like to swap them around with urs. best to not waste. badges if anyone wants? front grills on chrome/black? if urs is a 3.0l a 2.5l would like the brakes/engine. shift knob not worn. wind blocker.
