Good question, they were already fitted when I got the car, I'm sure they are quite a common type as I've seen them fitted to a few Z4's

I'm pretty sure the only aftermarket headlights on the market for the E85 are the Sonar branded ones as sold by 2Xcite which are available with either a silver or black backing

I have seen quite a few different options available all sold under different brand names and some look completely different due to the different photo angles etc. but when you look closely they are all the self same Sonar units

AFAIK they are all halogens but was only looking at the halogen options as it was when I had my previous Z, I know a few people have put HID conversion kits into them

I have them aftermarket headlamps too if its the ones with the halo rings that light up
