My 16th Birthday Present - Lots of pics

Today my Z is getting treated! ZHP ordered from Sopers, Stubby ordered from ebay, and new PDC sensor ordered from ebay! Can't wait for them all to arrive :)

So the previous weekend, I gave the Z a good seeing to as it had been naughty and got itself all dirty!

First off washed it then clayed the car all over with Meguiars Clay Bar. What a difference this stuff makes. I've still yet to do my front and rear bumpers, and you can feel the difference between the arch, and the bumper. Bumper feels like sand paper and arch feels like glass :) Amazing stuff.
After claying I gave it a good polish with Autoglym Super Resin Polish, Poorboys Black Hole, then finished off with Dodo Juice Purple Haze.

The results speak for themselves:

I used one of the cheap halfords style pad as big as your head kind of jobby, that was lying around in my dad's garage from when my brother cared about polishing cars! I soon burnt the motor out on that, and tripped the garage breaker, then a few days later my dad text me saying the food in the freezer was ok still! Good news!

Anywhoo... I had to finish most of the car off by hand, and it looks pretty good, partially down to the amount of fillers in SRP, black hole and purple haze I imagine... Going to invest in a DA at some point to do it all properly :)

A machine polisher definately helps. My boot top was in a bit of a mess for some reason and it took about 6 lots of polish to get that done. Albeit, the SRP stuff doesn't cut very much, and my machine polisher was pants.

Black hole is a glaze, filler of swirls/light scratches. And Dodo juice is a slightly tinted wax.

If you havn't clayed the car, I would definately do it! :P So satisfying fingering your paint afterwards! :tumbleweed:

So the other weekend, I got busy again!

Fitted a ZHP courtesy of Sopers (don't have a picture of this yet!). Looks so much better than my original one as it was fading. Feels better in the hand too with leather rather than plastic. As for shift difference, marginal perhaps? Maybe on the quick shifts.

Fixed an air leak from the tube attached to the throttle by replacing it (again Sopers), that was causing bank 1 and 2 lean codes. The code disapeared by itself so all back to normal

Also, got the rear bumper off using a couple of guides on here. Easy peasy :). Changed one of the rear PDC sensors as it was faulty. Parking sensor beeps now and I can reverse really close to everything! Winner :P Here's a couple of piccys! It was a tad dirty behind the shiny bumper :)

Congratulations.

You are not the first to have the wing mirror glass incident.

Mine started vibrating badly when i was on the motorway. Luckily it fell off when i'd exited and was on the slip road.

Must be a poor design.

Add me to the list, mine fell off today! Managed to catch it before it fell off and broke luckily.

Lovely looking car by the way!

Ha pink! Don't do it! :D

As for the wing mirror, I forgot about that! The other one fell off the other day as I closed the passenger door, so replaced that one too now! One less thing to worry about

I need to replace one of my sensors as its a bit intermittent. Its been like that for more than a year now  Can I as where you brought yours from and did you have to get it painted?
