Hi Chaps,

I was driving along one day, with the roof down of course, and realised, all of a sudden, my car doesn't make ANY noise. I didn't opt for a straight six only to be rewarded with the exhaust note of a Nissan Leaf, did I?

Accordingly, I booked an appointment with Top Gear Stockport, they do custom jobbies on exhausts and I had two pipes bypass the huge rear muffler (which weighs a ton) and the result was, well, loud...

(mobile phone users will need to plug into speakers to fully appreciate)

Any Q's I'll be happy to answer although my response rate will be inconsistent.

Big question as I've got one waiting to go on.... Does it drone? I do 14 miles each way to and from work a day and don't want that horrid drone when I just want to get home at the end of the day...

Also Beetlegav, have you got your dyno results from when it had the chop? I heard you lost power with the chop fitted?

Have you got any pics of the bypass pipe?

Also what kind of money they charge if you mind my asking?

Was thinking about this last year but never pulled the trigger

That tunnel used to be my test ground too. Fairly certain I was moving more quickly in my old Clio however :poke:

Yeah I lost power but I think they were a few factors with that and not just the exhaust.
Depending what speed your going at it will drone. You can sit it at certain revs and it will be silent

Haha yeah I was caught in the wrong gear in the second half of the video - are you from Manchester/ Cheshire? The Runway tunnels fall nicely within my daily commute, albeit I go the long way to keep them involved...

Will get a pic of the pipework up tomorrow for you mate - £200 all in for the pipes welded and fitted from TGS tuning in Stockport. These guys know what they're doing.

Simple answer: Yes, but only if you let it. I drove 360 miles on a round trip to Heathrow and back this week, I was apprehensive at first but it just comes down to your gearing. If you don't want to cause a scene then you just have to be sensible on the accelerator and in the correct gear. At low revs and idling it doesn't sound obnoxious at all.

When accelerating the feedback I've received is along the lines of 'it's loud, but it suits it.' The pops and burbles are awesome as well, one reason to get it changed alone.

Thanks for the feedback chaps, I guess that's actually answered all my questions, including the one I didn't ask - the 'external noise/image' question too! I love the car to bits but I really do want to maintain a professional image in the office car park at the same time!

Looks like Monday will be fun.... ;)
