Muck around edge of hood - only seen when hood down?

I've got this - a mucky line around the edge of the hood where the hood is at the base - you can only see this with the roof down as its the bit lower than you c an see when the hood is up - has anyone tried cleaning this with the hood down? (I'm worried about letting water in etc if not careful!)
 
Yes i have just drop the hood a tiny bit enough to get at the bottom part then clean and rinse using a sponge the water will run down the drainage holes
 
You can get a build up of mildew/moss and crap along that edge. Drop the hood a little and give it a good clean.
 
Don't worry about water getting in. The rubber is not really a seal, more to stop abrasion of the canvas on the bodywork. I tend to half lower mine give it a good clean and then wipe the underside of the rubber 'seal'. I used an old soft nailbrush to work the canvas a bit.

Leaving the roof down when garaged lets it dry has prevented it ever coming back green after 2 years :thumbsup:
