Mtec or Zimmermann discs?

Clear lacquer????

was going to get a set of mtec but insurance said no drilled discs :| brilliant!

anyone has any links for stock non drilled/grooved discs for e86 non m?

ideally something that has zink/paint coat as I don't like rust showing up

Clear laquer the lot
Pads wipe off what they need the rest stay fresh as a daisy

Protects discs and surface of the disc swept by pad gets taken off instantly when use brakes
Always do it with new discs on my cars
Stops rust etc and easier to wash dust off

That looks more like a piece of modern art, are you sure it's designed to go on a car? I like the machining on the face , not sure how long it will last though!

I've decided to ditch the Mtec discs as a option as there are far to many negatives on the web, I suppose you get what you pay for.

No M3's have different Hubs to other Z4's hence the wheel offsets are totally different.
You CAN fit the hub and then the brakes, but thats a huge amount of ball ache!

Just fit E36 330i calipers and new disks for that spec. Mine are 330mm diameter (Same as M3's i think, if not close)?

I'm going to put my hands up I drive an E89 35i, The only reason I posted on the 85/86 was to ask a bigger audience. My discs are 348mm x 30mm front & 324mm x 20mm rear. Apart from going OEM ( Way do pricy) there not a lot of choice out there. I'm also looking at Nitrac, nice looking discs but very slow when it comes communicating quotes.

When you say lacquer everything do you mean something like this? just goes against anything I know about keeping discs spotlessly clean when fitting them.

Hub swap, agreed, would be a complete PITA! And likewise doing the above would be a bit of a pain too. But more achievable than the hub swap!!

As said here, also the ZM and there for im assuming M3's rear axle / track width is actually slightly narrower than on a all other Z4's (Hence 225M wheels sit better on a normal Z4 right to the edge of the arch instead of tucked in needing spacers).

Just as a heads up, i am talking about the FRONT only (well for a 2.0lt anyway in my experience). Fronts literally un-bolt current ones, and re-bolt on new ones with carriers. #Simples The standard disk size is 325mm but mine are 330mm. The rears its still do'able but you'll have huge ball ache as the Hand/Parking brake wont marry up.

If anyones interested i have a set of E46 330i rear callipers, carriers and old disks knocking about gathering dust. I bought them on a whim before researching the Hand break issues and never got rid of them. Im sure theres a way around it, and if so its a awesome modification for not much Moneys.

mtec discs are grand, i've had them on mine for over a year now no issues whatsoever

Ill have to double check but there either 325-330mm, this was 4 years ago....
FYI i have big hands ;-) ;-)
