Mtec brakes.

Who else is using these?

Are yours noisy as hell? Mine are nuts slowing from any speed gives you this big noise .... It's not squeal or grinding just noisy

I went for the drilled and groved option kit with the mintex pads.
I have no problems with the brakes at all they work really well akways crisp and positive. There is no pull to one side. There is no judder through the steering. No fade nothing that makes me think of warping or worn pads. Just this vvvvvrrrrrrmmmmmm sort of noise?

I had this with Tarox straight grooved discs a while back on another car, noisy as hell, however the curved vanes on my MR2 discs are silent, so maybe the curves making a sweep rather than straight line grooves raking the pad makes a difference. Having said that are the Mtec curved as well?

Weird?? Can't fault their ability to stop. They work great.
Is it possible the discs are handed so are on the wrong side???

It does it at all speeds more so from higher. And has always done it from new.

Mine do make a bit of noise but not vast amounts. Yes they are left/right handed. If I remember rightly.

I had them fiited to my last 3/4 cars. They are noisy for a while but do bed in over a few months. I think there great value for money.

Ill have a look at them might just be a simple case of swapping the discs over if they are the wrong handed.

I thought they might bed in but have been on for long enough to have done so by now

Yes they are sided.Check online for pics

I've fitted grooved and dimpled to mine a couple weeks back, they make a slight noise but you have to listen for it to notice. Can't fault them so far but still bedding in so early days.
Interesting I didn't realise they were handed. (Will have to check now). Also they offer different colour coatings for the discs so not sure if this makes a difference?

The Mtec discs have straight vanes therefore can be fitted with the grooves in either direction.

Grooved disks are always noisy when compared to smooth. They will mellow, but if you want silence you can't have grooved. Mine took a year until the deep drone of braking significantly faded away (they are EBC disks)

In order for noise: smooth, dimpled, drilled, then grooved, so since you have both drilled and grooved you got the most possible noise.

Of course one persons acceptable is another's excessive noise

please don't get me wrong i don't mind the noise and they are great. but having been through a thought process of what it might be im stumped. it seems a little excessive. the only thing i have not done is get a gauge on the discs to see if they are warped but i doubt it. there are no other signs. oh well ill leave it alone

They are sided & need to be fitted on the correct side. I had fitting instruction up in my garage to a few months ago. Contact mtec & they will send you instructions

Mine make the noise you talking of. But mine are on the wrong way!! :headbang:

It's on the to do list. Swap them round it might make a difference.

Mine are great, no noise (grooved and drilled) and using Mtech pads. Not a lot of dust either.
As above yes they are sided.

mine made a noise to start with, but seem to have calmed down a bit (maybe they have bedded in, or im just used to it)

could somebody take a photo of them installed the "correct" way, pretty sure mine are right but now im worried haha

That was my old e86 with mtec discs fitted as per instructions from the supplier.
