Mr. VANOS appointment. (Edited)

Always good to read a happy ending :)

Mind if I ask how much extra replacement of the timing chain was? Tempted to get mine done next march with the vanos as well....

[ref]Ed Doe[/ref], no problem. The chain was £400. The more I think of it the more i think the things that i could notice in my engine before the job were possibly more to do with the chain and less with the VANOS. A stretched chain will allow for the timing to be out slightly. Just a thought. Although it is true that once everything that had to be out was out, he might as well replaced the VANOS.

Hello Spaniarduk,

I am really happy to hear that it worked out well in the end! I had a very positive experience with Steve (Mr Vanos) and felt really bad you had a poor initial engagement with him.

Good idea to replace the timing chain... in hindsight, I would have done the same; guess I will do that when doing the bottom end of the engine.

Happy driving :driving:

Very old post I know - BUT, having been let down myself after making an appointment several weeks ago, I had to post.

Car all ready for the agreed time & date (spoke personally to him on the phone when making appt) and then, nothing....

Called to chase, and when eventually answered, was told I "didn't email/text to confirm" ERM, If call my Drs and make an appt (or anywhere else for that matter) then I don't expect to have to confirm.. Surely the onus is on HIM to double check I haven't forgotten he is coming, so that HE doesn't waste his time/money - As it is I've wasted a day taken off work.

Despite repeated calls etc, still no reply/alternative appt...

VERY disappointed!

FWIW my experience with Mr VANOS fitting my new TTE 500 Turbos was an expensive, slow, poor quality experience..they'd employed a BMW rooky who was learning as he went on my car..turbo outlet coupler slipped of after a couple of months due to incorrect fitment..which lead to rear turbo failure .amongst other issues...
