MPG

Just back from a long weekend to the Scottish borders. I was astonished to find that the car achieved 47mpg in comfort mode with no effort to save fuel charging along the A1 and across to Kelso. Same on the way back. That is really amazing as the E89 struggled ever to reach 40mpg.

Other observations...it's tremendous fun on the twisties in the borders using the paddles...much more poised and controllable than the E89. On the A1, it ran very quietly, was truly comfortable and swallowed all the luggage we required with ease.

Fantastic I say...

That’s very good and especially as you didn’t make a conscious effort to conserve fuel.

There maybe hope for the 33mpg claimed for the M40i then.

Glad all the luggage fitted and you enjoyed your trip!

I’m getting around 38mpg in a mix of journeys in my G29 20i.

My previous E89 20i used to return about 33mpg over similar driving so I’m well pleased with the new car.

My first tank in the M40i did 30.6MPG so I'm quite happy with that. I'll see real world figures once I get the darn thing run in and I can give it the full beans.

I calculate the actual mpg of my M40i at each fill-up. In almost 3,000 miles my average is 32.3 mpg. The best that I have achieved was 35.8 mpg and worst was 26.6 mpg. :driving:

My record is 42mpg on a long motorway trip

Coming up to 10k miles and from very varied driving and making full use of the power it's sitting at 28mpg overall. I'm happy enough with that, certainly higher than the M135i I had a few years ago!

So my M40i is currently averaging 32.9mpg after 5 tanks. Almost all of this is commute, although the 50mph average speed roadworks on the M62 is probably helping quite a bit at present. I'm still getting a bit of B road blasting into the mix so I'm happy with that.
