yes, here we go again :)

moving up scale from a fantastic 3.0si roadseter, looking for a bigger car (if not, naturally was going for cayman or boxster s).

my car will be imported by me from the us (like the Z4). amazingly in the us market carrera goes for the same price, eve carrera s somtimes, as a m3. ofcourse carrera will be lack some of the options, and will be earlier in the production date, but will still be new carrera (after the last and amazing facelifft).

M3- mountains of words said on the glories car. amazing in coupe, nice with top down on E93.
problems-
biggest one- 3 series is here for a while. M3 GTS http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/04/bmw-m3-gts-unveiled/ featuring a 4.4L engine and the last facelift (problem number tow) indicates the next 3 series is around the corner. how far is it ?
next biggest-
3 series got a facelift about 2 month ago (?) and M3 got it just now. anyway the cars in the dealers inventory are pre facelift.
how significant is the facelift?
smallest-
if i go for M3 i think i sould go for the convertible. how heavy and lack of sportines is it compared to the coupe?

911-
problems-
biiggest-
very expencive maintenance, ridiculous high.
911 is very extrovert car
looking for more problems for 911..

thanks in advance!!

Don't get a convertible M3....they just look wrong imo. Saying that, so does a convertible 911 imo. I'd get a 997 C2S if it was me.

oh if you are ok wiht insurance and running costs, I would take the Carrera S in a heartbeat over M3, they are just so much better engineered I reckon. BMW still when it comes down to it, in all honesty, has way to many little stupid electronic glitches and wotnot. I think a Porker is just so much nicer proposition and it's no longer the asxholes car. Audi is. :fuelfire:

I just don't get the Porsche thing. Just such a dated look, sorry, classic; engine in the wrong place (I don't care, it is!!) pay £2k per service, min, and get treated like it is an 4rsoles car, and you're the 4rse. :poke:

That being said, the M3s a bit obvious really. Big bills and not much return for it in daily use.

Oy, ref, could be some Audi drivers on here too :poke:

:D

Biggest problem for me with Porsches is the interior! They look so dated now!

What do you need from a bigger car? The back seats in the 911 really aren't worth the effort and the boot is I suspect smaller that your zed. Love 911s! I actually like the 997 interior - the 996 looked like a kids computer with those big rounded buttons! PSE sounds great too - hark back to the air cooled days. If you get one with PASM you can probably set it to a more compliant ride that the M3! PSM is a must - although may be standard on the 997. I'd get an S for the wide body and big reds.

The other car I'd consider is the XKR - a friend has the 4.2 and even that is faster than his Carrera 4S (996) and even his old 355 - based on a somewhat unscientific sliproad speed test. Looks great too!

Personally I don't think I'd buy a convertible car that wasn't designed to be a convertible.
