Moving from HTC to iPhone

Hey, so I've got a new iPhone 6 but want to easily transfer all my data from the HTC to the new phone....is there a simple way to do this without paying £30+ for the wondershare software?

All my contacts, music, photos, etc....

I would have thought there would be a 'do you want to transfer data' when it started up...but alas nothing.

Well, Android to iPhone. No. This might be a bit painful.

Recovery of the music and photos are different to your contacts. You you still have the HTC, hopefully. You can get the file transfer apps:
PC
http://android-file-manager.en.softonic.com/
Mac
https://www.android.com/intl/en_uk/filetransfer/

to move photos and music to a pc or mac. Then use iTunes to push them to the iPhone

So what account did you sync the Android phone with? If it's a gmail or exchange, then sync the iPhone to the same account. If they're local contacts, then create a gmail account first, sync the contacts on the HTC, then add the gmail account on the iPhone, resync.

Photos will be drag and drop, contacts possibly not unless you can copy them to a nano sim on your HTC and insert it into your iPhone.

Music you will have to drag from HTC to your PC and add it into iTunes.

This is a non reply as I went from windows to iPhone. Contacts was easy. Nothing else went.

Remember Google is your friend!!

Probably not going to happen soon enough for you, but IOS9 will include an Android to IOS migration app

That looks useful. Might be available in the iOS 9 beta, if you fancy trying it?

Is your old HTC spare now? I need to test an App for a new product of mine and don't have one (just the simulator) - so if you are going to bin it, I am a good cause

Angelus did you get this sorted? I've done a few of these now, happy to help.

Thanks Graham, yep seem to have been able to migrate over the bulk of the data I needed across....and in reality it's amazing to then realise how much data/reliance I have on Google (Mail, Drive, Calendar, etc..).

I was surprised that they hadn't prompted me to add 'previous phone' upon start up and then take me through a complete sync across all my data and settings. Re-setting up all your news feeds across different apps and other things like Clock Alarms should be easy enough for them to create an automatic sync....guessing this iOS9 should do the job.

Hey, I'm not exactly sure whether I'll keep it just yet...some other bits I find it useful for, but I'll let you know. Also, if you want some proper remote user testing on your App let me know and I can have my guys run an insight project for you.

Well, Google to Google, or Samsung to Samsung works fine, and generic Android to Android assuming you don't use the vendor's sync / backup services but choose to use a Google account instead. But syncing Samsung to HTC custom or any other combo, is a right PITA. HTC to HTC did work til they screwed up the desktop app.

Apple to Apple is excellent as you'd expect, the missing link is the migration too which has been mentioned is coming too.

Going the other way (ie IOS to Android), there's a load of third party Android apps to help.

Some what off topic...your villa in Spain, can we book via your site or is it better directly via you? Might fancy a chilled week there with the missus in October. I'll be in Benidorm for a stag week in July, so any tips on 'decent' bars would be good...?
