Motorway+Convertible ~ Hospital

Nothing dire... But I'm glad I have a smart top now.

Driving around in the sun, top down, loving it.. Just on a roundabout before an on ramp to get onto the motorway, I raise the hard top while in motion... A short while later at 60mph a rock is kicked up by a truck which clangs off the roof. A small scratch results which is easily repaired. I'm pretty sure that rock would have caused serious damage to my head however!

Yay for smart top as had I not had it I'd have left the top down and probably be in hospital now...

:o I've had gravel thrown up in the past and often wondered what would happen if something bigger was thrown into the car, glad you're ok Maniac

You've got me worried now: only had the Z a month so probably have top down more often as its still a novelty, but I've already done quite a few motorway runs with the roof down!

Your head does sit a reasonably bit lower than the roof so maybe its not such a worry?

Fine for rocks heading at you horizontally.. This one was arcing and coming straight down!

Wear helmet on the track, I wonder what people would think wearing one on the road :)

Which reminds me, can you get headrest covers because I'm worried the back of the helmet scratches the leather.

People don't seem to be phased by me doing it.

Then again, they know me as the STIG!!!!!

Exact same thing with me. I've got two dinks on the roof now. Swear if the roof was down and I had a passenger they would've been knocked out.

I wear a hat because in the sun I become a redhead.......... no hair just a red head
Hit by a flying oject......... another type of red head.

I dunno, when I first acquired the car, I got beaned in the head with small bits of gravel, almost coarse sand really, but it really hurt! Then I discovered that the entire seat lowers. Hadn't had any trouble since. While I'm a bit tall, it's mostly legs, my sitting height isn't anything unusual, and the seat did not lower that much. So there is not much difference between safe and dangerous if you're taller than average. :?

I drove from london to derby yesterday top down....

On the motorway i see a bird the size of a hawk swoop down and drop what must have been a weeks worth of stored faeces... Made a mess on my screen i think... No bother... Washes and wipers clear it... And i get on with my life... Or so i think...

Just now i noticed this sight in the passenger seat jedetabu.jpg

It doesnt look bad... But took some scrubbing to remove... Must have had an almighty maccy d's before it dropped that mother load!

Good thing the misses wasnt sitting there!!

:D Ugh! That's nasty! And chavs think they're throwing us a huge insult by squirting their screen washers in front of us.
