Motorcyle Insurance

I'm confused and hoping someone may be able to clarify something for me.

I have just received my renewal quote (in the post) from Devitt for £433. Yet when I go online and get a new quote from Devitt, it comes in at around £330. I'm somewhat confused as to how an existing customer gets a more expensive quote for renewal if they decide to simply renew their premium with Devitt as opposed to starting a new insurance quote? I would have thought it should be the other way around, that loyalty would afford one better insurance rates.

Any ideas?

Loyalty means nothing. They want more business/customers so offer the best deals to new customers.

You can threaten to leave, but in my experience they don't really care. Which is strange considering it's easier to keep an existing customer than to get a new one.

I just did, this is their response:

"With regards to the online quotes I would confirm that at present these rates are subject to large discounts by the insurers in an effort to attract
new policies and hence the renewal premiums for existing clients are sometimes, as in your case more expensive. As these rates are merely set
for new policies via the internet we cannot offer to match these and to achieve the better rate you would need to accept the internet policy which
in your case would be the best way to proceed.

I do agree that loyalty should count but the companies don’t seem to always think along the same lines as we do."

Go figure - surely it would be easier to keep a current customer.

its mental.... i have the same problem, then they ring you up and wonder why you dont want to take the renewal,,,,, move on to someone else i change every year :(

Crazy, I know! I definitely will not renew with them. I guess you have to just play the game and keep switching!

I did a few quotes on some of the Comparison Websites today, then someone from Carole Nash called me. I started the conversation by saying that their online quote was too expensive (came in at about £130 more than anyone else). She went on to say "let me see what I can do for you, I'm sure we can be more competitive". So I spent the next 15 minutes with her basically going over all the same details I had just spent 15 minutes putting into their website, and in the end, she quoted me a price higher than their online one! What is wrong with these poeple!?!? :headbang:

Its very simple ............
I have it all the time with my bike insurers..........

swinton / Bennetts / whoever online..............
are not the same business entities as swinton / Bennetts / whoever live in the flesh.

Its incomprehensible I know, but thats the way it is, ...... someone on the phone once told me " we cant compete with online prices .....", when I said " .... errrrrrrrrrrrrrr they are your online prices, its the same company" ........... the answer I got back was " errrrrrrrrrr ..... sorry but we are not the same company ........"

I always end up buying a new policy online every year with the same people instead of renewing.

i never put my number in properly so they never call me  ..... but yes i go online and change if necessary

I can understand why you don't put your number, my phone has been ringing non-stop - it is so annoying! Especially when they just waste your time to give you the same quote or a higher one! :headbang:
