Gents,

I know I'm not a prolific poster on here  but I'm after anyone's experiences or advice.

Unfortunately My family and I were hit by an uninsured driver and have been advised by our insurers to make a claim through the MIB ( not Men In Black )

Thankfully we suffered no physical injuries but the car was a total write off (cat C).

So, Do I appoint a solicitor, local or one of these companies that are continually phoning me.

Can't think of any specific questions at the mo' but any other advice would be welcome.

Many thanks in advance.

I don't think you need representation. Are you claiming for the difference in the payout compared to value?

They got involved when my wife was hit by an uninsured driver back in 2002. From memory they paid the medical part. Our insurance paid out for the car but we lost the excess. Supposedly we should have got the excess back once the other party had paid up. I know a warrant of execution was issued but we still never heard anything. Tbh it was so long ago now and I got a full refund on the policy which was more than the excess that I haven't bothered trying to claim back.

No, I'm claiming for uninsured losses and compensation.

I have no idea if they will cover this and their site isn't much help. You're just going to have to go trough the claims process I guess. I can't see how any of the companies chasing you will get you a better deal without taking a cut. Do you have legal protection on your policy? Have the identity of the driver?

No legal cover I'm afraid.

He also had no license and left the scene. Currently being prosecuted by five-o.

I've had a look at the MIB site and agree not much help.

Oh well here goes nothing.

Compensation?

TBH, if you have no physical issues then it will come down to your insurance. When I get home from my hols I will see if we got any money for travel expenses etc that were incurred, I remember keeping records as asked.
