I seem to have run into a problem with the motor for the top today. I assume that is what is wrong with it as I hear it purring, but nothing happens. I have 48K miles on the car...i put the top up and down often as i don't leave the car open and unattended.

How many others have had the motor go out?

I wanna be :driving: topless again.

104k miles on my 04 and I have had the top adjusted once we got the Z. We have the top down unless we are headed someplace special and don't want our hair messed up. We use the drop top feature quite often. Knocking on wood.

Mine has been hanging up lately when going from top up to top open. I've just bumped it up (ok a light hit) and it's worked like normal. Soon i think i'll grab some WD40 or some kind of oil/grease and grease those lock pins. They look ok, but I'm thinking they aren't well lubed and that's whats causing the top not to retract correctly.

I have the same problem with mine.

Bought mine in January with 28K miles on it, had to replace the motor before hitting 30k miles. It just stopped working completely. Luckily I was home and in the garage as I couldn't' get the top up manually. Took it to the dealer on the next nice day and they couldn't get it to release manually either! So that's a bit scary. Regardless, it was under warranty so it's fixed.

hmm @ 70k, no problem...just the buttons on the console is going bad(bad contacts i think)

i do open/close the top frequently so I hope it goes bad soon. so i can get it fixed under warranty lol

157K and no problems. It is getting a bit noisy when closing, but only with Kathy in the car... :driving:

Hey it was only that the hook needed to be greased...the motor was fine.

Haha, well good to see my idea worked. Sorry I didn't get around to it sooner. Did you use just a generic grease?

Mine sticks on the occassional morning. While holding the button, I just give the top a slight push and it opens fine.

But i see your top is fixed and I'm sure I speak for all the guys when i say that "It's great that you can go topless again!"

Yal...you just need to grease the pins.....mine would have opened had I pushed it......but i didn't.

Yes, I got my top fixed....and just in time for a great drive today....almost 80 and just gorgeous.......went to the beach......topless......fun. What should I do tomorrow? San Francisco?
