MOT with LSD

Had my mot yesterday, dropped car off went shopping .When I returned the tester was about to do the brakes and he asked if the car had LSD I said yes then he tells me he wont put rear wheels on rollers in case it damages diff (?),then he tested the brakes by driving and sudden braking with a load meter device in the car. Never seen this before and was wondering if anyones diff has been damaged. He also said there was no identifying paperwork to tell which cars have them,he just casually remarked that some of these models do.

Never been asked, and never had an issue with the rear brakes on the rollers for brake testing.

Also never had the tester take the car anywhere other than between the emissions & brake testing bays.

Although maybe if I wasn't sitting there watching they'd take it out for a razz?

There has been a thread on here previously about MOT testers having drives in people's ///M's due to the LSD. I've not taken mine through one yet, but I'm sure some people said they've never experienced a tester driving their car.

Maybe some testers are overly cautious?

They did this with my 350Z and now with the ///M.

Also with my Dax as it's too low to go in the rollers, they just accelerate and brake across their forecourt two or three times then back in the garage and continue the test.

It seems to be perfectly valid and a whole lot cheaper than putting right any resulting damage!

Can't see it being an issue with an LSD, but testers do take care with such things. Both my Jeeps with complex boxes, transfer cases and air powered diffs are tested by driving on the industrial centre road with a brake meter on the floor.

While he never even pays attention to it and goes by feel he says it's a perk of the job to play in the car park when he spends day under bog standard saloons :)
