MOT Fail - Lower suspension arm, excessive play ball joint

My Z4 3.0si 2006 has failed the MOT due to "Nearside Front (lower) suspension arm has excessive play in a ball joint".

The garage said I need a whole new arm at a price of £180 just for the part!

Can anyone tell me if there is an easier (and cheaper) way to get this fixed?

I had that twice and I must say I wasn't convinced... both times it was in a North East Tyre and Exhaust

Part numbers can be found from realoem.com (sorry, but I don't have access here at work) and the parts can be purchased from eurocarparts. There are guides on youtube, if you think you need them
