MOT due - where?

What would you do, BMW for £54.85, Halfords for £27.50 or KwikFit for £30? I suspect most will say pay the extra but thought I'd beg the question anyway

I would go with the cheapest, as long as you know your car is in good condition with no problems (which most people on this site do). At the end of the day if it passes, that's all you need. The only time you need to worry is if you think there may be issues with the car, that is when certain dodgy companies may try and make a "quick buck" on you. I did my last MOT at Kwik Fit and was happy with the service, in case you are looking for any recommendations. Once again, I know many people may have had bad experiences with Kwik Fit, but I haven't, and was pretty sure that my car would pass MOT - which it did.

Take it to a local council test centre, as they don't have the incentive of 'finding' necessary work.

If you have BMW warranty though I'd go to BMW, so you can get the repairs done FOC :P

There's a council one in Guildford (Woking Road Depot, Woking Road, Guildford, Surrey, GU1 1QE, 01483 445091)

my local bmw price matched and did it for 25.00 all in!!!.... or for the last 2 years anyway. Sadly will be going elsewhere next year as my car wont make it up the ramps at my local, i need flush ramps now.

Just asked Sytner Sunningdale for a price match and she came back with a special price of....

...£49!

It's more expensive apparently because they have to reset the MOT light which will keep flashing otherwise (normal price for this £25)

:?

My local test station (always taken our cars there) charge £40 but they are very professional and never give us any problems.

What MOT light is that, mine was 3 months overdue and saw no light.

There is no MOT light on the car, full stop.

I am afraid that I let the dealer do the M as I don't want some grease monkey to make my car filthy.

Had mine done today, £45 at a back street place in Darlo but it's trusted and no problems. Used them for my last couple of cars too, never needed extra work.

It's the place behind kwikfit on northgate. Has a couple of very old cars parked inside which they've been working on for years, ones a rover.... We're talking running boards and huge round lights up front.
