Bugger.

Timing is impeccable. I got a light out warning a week ago, checked and everything working fine, then the warning light disappeared. Assuming it was nothing, I looked no further.

Warning light came on again tonight. Get home and a quick look shows both AE on the driver side are out. MOT due at 0830 tomorrow! :headbang:

I'm hoping its not water ingress, as that often takes the ballast with it, and the headlight was still working (so far).

So, with those that have had CCFL AE, have you had failures? What had failed? Both rings at the same time?

As it appears to have been intermittent that may be the cause rather than the rings themselves, plus with both going together it seems most likely. A new inverter is £7.50 from ebay with delivery thursday, so I think I'll order one anyway. Due to poor sealing of the back covers, I only open them when removed from the car so I can run a bead of silicone around the back cover when refitting.

I may order new rings and redo them all in the next couple weeks, and get the lens' polished inside and out as they look cloudy on the outside and not immaculate on the inside (I guess due to condensation, being dried out, etc.) There was a local Z4 owner near me that offered on here... must go find his details

Ah the joy of poorly designed lights.

If you do decide to fit new ones I would recommend LED's

CCFL's on the right

They're working again today so dropping it for the MOT and hoping they work all day. Bizarre, but have a new ballast on the way.

Hopefully they stay on mate! How would you get a warning light though if the AEs went down? What are yours wired into?

The sidelights, fully replacing the sidelights. When it was off the indicator stayed on as normal with a sidelight out.
