I did exactly this with my girlfriend (now fiancé). It was a relatively simple contract drawn up by a friend who is a family solicitor (who deals with divorces etc). As someone mentioned, although not a fully legally binding contract as such, it shows intent by both parties to honour the agreement so that, should it turn nasty, a court would almost certainly back the contract.
