Well at last I have had the audio controls added to my Alpine Set up. Really pleased with the end result. Also decided to have a rear camera fitted. This can be selected manually or when you put the car in reverse. The camera is really small and unobtrusive.

I will be honest not fitted by me as do not like to mess with the airbag.

But a reversing camera on a Z4. LOL it's only 2ft from your eyes to the back of the car. A front parking camera now that would make far more sense. 8)
 
buzyg you have a point. The unit has another composite input so could be done! The real reason is I use my car every day and have to park in a yard which can be very tight so makes life a lot easier. Was impressed at how unobtrusive it was. My last car although totally different (Volvo s60) had one and it made life so much easier parking.

Great mods, nice and neat!
Lots of new cars come with reversing cameras these days.
 
R3AP4R not sure what further you need. I will dig out the spec of the bits if reqd. I liked the camera as its very discreet. Some I have seen look daft. You would never know this one is there. I had a rear parking camera on my last car which I found handy because of the Sh*** parking at work.

The install was done by Source Sounds Sheffield. I have been pleased with the work they have done in the past and although not cheap by any means would recommend.

Really like the look of the headunit - which model of Alpine is it? Will it support navigation?
 
For Z4pilot,

The head unit is an Alpine IVA-D511RB (This gives red as one of the background colours to compliment the red lighting of BMW gauges etc.)
The telephone interface is the KCE 250BT

I have also had fitted a TUE-DAB1U Alpine DAB tuner.

This all runs through a Hertz HDP 4 Amp. This runs the Sub and the front components.


Someone asked about the rear camera. The camera was £60 and £70 for the fitting and installation.

This unit come purpose built for the Alpine Sat nav unit. I believe its a further £300.
