More government control - “Speed limiter technology”

I don't see what all the fuss is about, unless I've got it wrong.

Two of my cars have this stuff already; speed limit recognition and limiter function on cruise control. They are not linked at present, so the speed limit recognition is just advisory and the limiter is set separately. At the moment the speed limiter defaults as 'off' unless manually activated, and the limit recognition can also be disabled.

I am presuming the idea is to link them and they will default as 'on'. I would guess you will just turn it off manually. If so, not a major disaster. :?

This is what I took from it when I read it a couple of days ago.

The tech has been there a good few years now. Not a vote winner though. I expect it will take a good few years yet to programme the populous to accept it. All of these articles are simply part of that process. :)

I'm looking forward to putting a few 60MPH stickers on the back of my car, that way anyone wanting to tailgate on a motorway will be fighting with the cars computer to maintain a speed.

Where can you drive fast these days I'm always in a jam

Tim.

Mind you penalties for getting caught speeding are pretty tough.....and you don't want to hit a Roo at speed.
