Momentum Warranties

Hey guys, took out a 2.0 Z4 earlier and it was pretty nice. Probably needs the tyre pressures sorting and tracking but other than its a nice example. The garage have offered a lifetime warranty for £649 with Momentum Warranties, and I was wondering if anyone had any dealings with them or even heard of them? Other than that, are there any other warranty companies out there that is worth considering? I have contacted 2 and both are quoting around £500 per year for the Z4, so am i missing something?

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably will be.

I would check the small print to establish exactly what you're covered for. Does the warranty cover parts and labour, or just labour? Does the warranty cover all parts of the car, or just the likes of engine, drivetrain etc?

Well, it covers parts and labour, engine, head gasket, gearbox etc, electrics (inc roof). The only stipulation is that it is serviced every year using a VAT registered garage using genuine parts, and that there are no pre-existing faults. I guess they are working on the assumption that people do not keep their cars that long, as it is not transferable.

Sounds good, and cheap...

Check that they cover cracked manifolds (common issue on the 2.0i I think).

Compared to £2600 for an extended dealer warranty on a GTR....it's great value!

Can't believe it will be worth the paper its written on to be honest with you.

BMW and Warranty Direct will both quote you online. It has to be worth a comparison. If you don't buy, be warned Warranty Direct will phone you the following day and quite possibly for the rest of your life! (trust me on this) You will however get the chance to haggle :)

Haha, warranty direct rang me 7 times today. So I told them to go get f*cked, no the first time should have been enough. They wanted £500 per year !!!!

If you don't mind me asking, how much have you guys paid, and who with?

I kept the amount I would have paid for a warranty. Not needed it so far

+1. I hear Warranty Direct are a reputable company, have not used them myself. Got a quote from them for my 2004 Zed. However this was over 2 years ago. It was circa £450, however cannot remember what it covered / did not cover.

As others said, make sure it covers labour. How's the search going?

What reservations did you have about Warranty Direct? Apart from them stalking you on the phone :P

My dealer gave me 'BMW insured warranty'- comprehensive (this is through Mondial Assistance I believe) when I bought my car a year ago. This has been very very good for me this year- so much so that I've renewed it for another year at a reasonable price. (depends on age and condition of vehicly of course)
