Apologies in advance for the crap photos taken quickly on my phone... I've just picked the car up from a stint in the body shop so I'm VERY eager to take advantage of this sun with a top down trip along some nice B roads...... but I know how much everyone loves pics, so here goes.....

A quick update on the mods that have been done (finally). For those of you who saw the photos on my welcome thread, this is what the front of the car used to look like:

A set of clear headlamps and a facelift bumper (thanks again Rich!) and it's now a bit more like this:

It's an odd angle, but I'll try to take some better photos on my camera later. Not too obvious in that photo, but here is the lower grille section:

I got the body shop to add a couple of spun ally air inlets that I bought, then they coated the grille and lower lip of the bumper with a nice satin black to match the kidney grilles. I've got an LCR splitter - like Paza3's blue Z4C - ready to go on, but I've got serious clearance issues at the bottom on my driveway with the Eibachs, so not sure what is going to happen yet.

Finally, some interior mods.... no 'before' picture, but I've swapped the standard wheel over for an M wheel, then did a multifunction retrofit to that. Now, I know some of you have got issues with M kit on non-M cars, but I wanted a nice chunky wheel..... and you gotta love the alcantara. :thumbsup:

Once I've finished hooning it's time for a good clean. The body shop are great, but the car is covered with dusty fingerprints!
 
Looks very nice indeed - like the steering wheel, and I am sure no one will have a problem with some coloured stitching... Even an ///M badge on the wheel wouldn't rankle as the Sports all have them :thumbsup:

I like the grill, need a new one myself.
 
Oh yeah.... you can just about see the cruise control stalk sticking out on that last pic.... a great mod for any of you whose cars have the wiring in place. Nice and quick and OEM too!

Swapped over the steering wheel airbag at the same time, as some dozy individual (not me) had tried to remove the badge on the previous one with a screwdriver and I wasn't too keen on driving round waiting for the airbag to go off!

I know it's been said before, but I'll add my experience too. I replaced both the wheel (using the handy guide from this forum) and airbag. BMW instructions clearly state that the airbag will need recoding after this job. No warning light for me! :thumbsup:

what's the matter with your grills Bing, you could always try some Plastisip, you'll have enough for the steering wheel and the grills 8)
 
Thanks all. Very pleased with the improvements. I added a good few miles over the weekend and the new steering wheel is great! Doesn't get as hot as the original wheel when the sun is out, which is a bonus! MF buttons all work great, although had the top off all weekend so wasn't really listening to any music!

Long may the weather continue :thumbsup:
 
Severely disappointed here, thought it was going to be a thread with loads of pics of Paul Weller.

(Car looks ok btw :D :D )
 
the air inlets are for brake cooling?
do you have any photos of how its made 'under the skin' ?
after last autoX i came to conclussion I need some brake ducts myself
and now I'm hesitating whether ro buy an M-bumper or modify the one I have..
 
Hi. They are just cosmetic at the moment, but I'm looking to make them into cooling ducts later on...

They are standard spun alloy inlets which fit flexible pipe. My intention was to route the pipe to an outlet in the plastic wheel arch liner. I'm going to take a look the next time the car is up on a ramp...
 
OK. As I mentioned before, some dozy idiot tried to remove the centre badge on my previous steering wheel with a screwdriver, so when I swapped steering wheels over I replaced the airbag with one sourced through this forum :thumbsup:

I have replaced all of the exterior roundels with carbon fibre badges, and I'm very happy with them! But I'm constantly reminded that the steering wheel badge doesn't match. I did a search a while back, and someone suggested a sticker. So, I've bought one, but it is padded so when placed on top of the current badge is sits proud - and obviously so.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
 
how much did you pay for the front bumper and the clear side signals ( or you replaced the entire headlight units ? )

I replaced the entire headlight units with facelift clear units, bought from a forum member who very kindly donated the facelift front bumper... thanks again btw! (...you know who you are) :thumbsup:
