little update - daughter is fine now. The car was a Cat 'C' write-off and with the threat of me hanging on to the hire car the other sides insurance Co made quick 'kin daft offer to settle, daft in a good way being £700 MORE than I paid NEW (discounted) for the car 9 months ago!
