Hi guys, I have seen a lot of stuff on here about oil, all after I had already bought what I was told by a BMW breaker to buy. He told me to get Mobil 1 5W-30 and I wanted to check with all of those in the know that this is ok/correct oil for me to be using in my '03 3.0i.

Thanks!

Cheers Ranski, thought it was right, just wanted to double check!

Sorry to go off topic, but I wanted to ask you about the HIDs direct kit you bought. Did you need to buy the Termintor kit or is the canbus free one ok for the Z4s? Also, how are these adjusted? Using the existing adjuster for the halogen headlights? Just don't want to fit them and go straight in and fail MOT!

Some say you can do it via the rear light hatch, but I would advise to take the bumper off and the lights - takes 20 mins, 10 if you have done it before

If you live in the bham area I don't mind giving you a hand

sorry for the blatant thread hijack but its basically the same quetion

other than mobil one does anyone like different brands? i want to do the oil on my 3.0i and my westy. both use 5w30. i was lookin in costco and i can get catrol magnatec or edge or there is the chevron oil. i used to use this in my focus/v6 mundano and other cars.

has anyone got any comments?

I get my oil from Costco. Just make sure it's fully synthetic and BMW Longlife compatible.

Costco keep all sorts of 5w30's and some are for diesel only.

is there a code or something that says BMW compatible?

The Castrol Edge I use clearly says 'BMW Longlife-04' amongst the long list of specs, compatibility, SAE codes.
