Mk4 SatNav DVD Unit Fault?

Can anybody confirm if the fault mentioned here is with the SatNav DVD unit or not

On the first retrofit we did, we got that exact same problem. However, that was caused by not having the correct wires at the head unit end. It was pin 5 and 11 for the sound for the navigation unit. However, we had reversed the two cables and we noticed that the radio would "dim" when the voice should come out.

Correcting the positioning at the radio end solved that problem. It is therefore possible that there was just a lose connection at the radio end for this MKIV unit. In other words, I have never seen a sounds failure with this unit.
 
I do not believe this fault has anything to do with the MkIV sat nav unit, rather as PVR indicates in another area of the system. I'll qualify that I'm not a audio engineer but have retrofitted Mk IV units in BMW's

That said of course beware of anything on ebay and adjust your bidding based upon risk.....
 
thanks guys, I will see what price it goes to and make my decision, just need the £60 wiring looms once I have one of these.
