Missing unit / loose cable under bonnet?

Hi guys,

Just bought my first Z, e85 3.0si in Titan Silver (354), with red leather, love it!

However, just been inspecting under the bonnet and spotted something I didn’t originally - there’s a cable on the passenger side that doesn’t have anything connected to it and is just hanging there? (Please see photos attached).

Does anyone know what it’s meant to be connected to and what’s missing!? Slightly worrying!

Thanks for your expert advice!

Best regards,

George

The bonnet alarm switch has been unplugged, sits between the two struts. Common fault and people just unplug it.

Thank you, that puts my mind at rest! So it’s meant to go off if someone tries to open the bonnet? Is there another alarm siren for the rest of the car located a elsewhere?

Thanks again for your help, so appreciated :)

It's not the siren that has been disconnected, just the switch. The alarm will still work as normal otherwise - just no bonnet detection.

And crucially, as stated, the bonnet switches are a known repeat offender. You can buy a new switch and it'll work for some time, but it WILL fail again further down the line. I'd like to have the bonnet safeguarded by the alarm but the annoyance of a temperamental alarm (my bonnet switch failed) means that I leave mine disconnected too
