After my disastrous start yesterday (see London meet) I'm just wondering whether I should be thinking of driving my car with mismatched rear tyres until the replacements arrive. My old vreds on one wheel ps2 on the other. Sadly these are also different sizes 265/30 vs 255/35...around town I'm sure it'll be ok in a pinch but I need to go to a meeting in reading tomorrow. Better off taking the train?

Otherwise, it's certainly not ideal, although I suspect you would be fine if you stuck to 70mph and allowed a little extra braking distance. All Z4s have so much technology keeping everything in check that you'd almost certainly see the power cut before you start spinning up - as long as you are driving gently. As for braking, driving Miss Daisy I am sure you would still out brake most things on the road, the risk there would likely be fidgety on a corner.
:!: I am advocating this on the basis of limited use, driving less distance each way than you can do on a space saver or punctured run flat. I would by no means recommend this for regular driving.
Deathtrap, I suspect others' views on this will differ, but if you are considerate, no. Should you take the train? I possibly would, but only because I think I'd be over cautious and have a miserable journey. If you do drive, just treat the odd wheel as a space saver. And definitely check the insurance.
That aside, sorry you had the knock, but glad you seem to be getting it sorted quickly. The car was looking really good by the way
Thanks guys I completely agree I'd forgotten the insurance issue and there's no point taking an unnecessary risk. Really kicking myself for taking the quick shortcut and hitting the rear...500 quid I'd have rather spent on fun stuff! Heyho the joys of car ownership...see you at the next meet for longer than a cameo appearance!
Car with space savers have different profiles.. and are safe upto 50 mph....although the space saver isnt meant to be used on the driven wheel.....
Just seen your post on the London meet.... so many pages i must have skipped over a few pages.... sorry to see what happened.. must have been a hard knock to crack the wheel... but glad you got it sorted; just a shame it cost so much and you got to miss the meet.

I wouldn't drive.
I personally wouldn't do it, but if you do, just be mindful of relative performance of each tyre - if they are closely matched then it's ok but if its budget/average Vs performance then things could be very unpredictable...
