Mirrors Dim in Garage

First world problems … why my 3 mirrors dim in the poorly-lit garage ? I enter the garage, drive down 3 levels, and the mirrors are dimmed.

I can picture the car thinks it’s night and the fluorescent tubes are cars following behind. But it doesn’t always happen. Weird either way.

Does it happen with other folk ?

The mirror detects that it's dark from the front, front sensor, and then a bright light from the rear, sensor either a round dot on the mirror glass or a small retangular lens above the glass in the centre. So as it sees that it's dark, ie; in the parking garage, then it must be picking up a bright light from behind. Can only assume when it doesn't do it it must be seing enough light from the front to not allow the system to kick in.

Yes, no doubt it’s doing exactly what’s supposed to do. But it’s very different lighting conditions than driving on the streets with cars behind. And because I have to reverse into an even darker section of the garage, I have to cover the mirror sensor for a few seconds to undim. And also interesting, it never dims driving out. Go figure.

This is possible a silly question, but I've read about this before.....
I dont suppose your interior light is on?

Knowing my own history of stupid moves, no question is silly. But no, interior lights are off.
