mini disc players

so ive got a built in mini disc player in my dash and after finding possibly the oldest minidisc on then plannet found it actually works. why you would want one of these as well as the cd autochanger is beyond me but hey ho it works and the autochanger doesnt.

if i was to diconnect this from the back of the radio would this leave me an aux to connect a simple iphone cable? could i do the same with the autochanger just disconnect its cable and use a simple aux cable.

i know either solution wont let me control anything on the phone but it has to be better than the crappy radio tranmitter thing im using at the mo. i would like to get an intravee but 4 new tyres and a geo setup has killed that off for a while
 
I had a mini disc player and recorder many moons ago, and Sony have just announced they have stopped production of the players. Think of them as the Betamax of CD age. They had better physical protection and could be re written with ease (I know there are CD-RW but who used them?)

But on to your question. There is no need to disconnect your changer as Aux is on different pins. I cant remember if it's the same plug but somebody will confirm that.

Only reason to disconnect the changer would be to fir a fully integrated mp3 solution such as Dension or Intravee.
 
One of my previous zeds had a mini disk player. It was quite cool. Minidisks were easy to store in door pockets etc. Must out of interest, your car isn't silver grey with red interior is it??
 
I bought a nav head unit from PVR had a mini disc as well, but managed to find a CD unit so sold it on to another member.
 
I loved the MD format, but obviously not as cost effective as a CD or DVD, the fact you could chuck them around without damaging them was a big plus to me.
