Mini Deep Clean

To be honest the car doesn't really need it, but my OCD demands that I have a bash at what's required at least... Whilst it's not the most riveting of thread topics someone will be interested and it gives me an excuse to post some pics of my car

So this afternoon I took my wheels off to give them and the arches a good clean & protect. Both arches and wheels washed with a dedicated wheel cleaning mitt and treated with Tardis ; arches then scrubbed, rinsed and washed again then protected with Aerospace 303 ; wheels rinsed, treated with Iron-X, then dried and waxed. Unfortunately I don't have any wheel wax, so some Dodo Juice Purple Haze Pro had to suffice for now...

Wanted a peek under the car anyway, and I have to say it's a credit to PVR - the underside of the car is rust free, barely even dirty, the exhaust is still shiny from end to end, the back boxes are just a little dirty with some tar as you'd expect, and there were some pleasingly shiny bits winking at me when I took the rear wheel off. This is it before cleaning :

It's like this because he's never really driven it in the wet or winter... Unfortunately that is destined to change, so I can already feel the nagging tug of a new pressure washer with underbody attachment in my future...

Arches after cleaning and protecting :

Found another ///M logo hidden in there, upside down on what I believe is the rear trailing arm. They could have at least stamped it the right way up

Embarrassingly, and much to Mrs Bs disgust, I only got one side done as I forgot I had a couple of things to do that involved using it... So I will have to do the other side tomorrow if I can sneak it in, as I'm still having to limit time spent lavishing attention on the car, or at least do stuff when when everyone is doing something else / out / asleep :ninja:

The plan is also to give the engine bay a clean - again, it doesn't really need it but a spruce up can't do any harm and I have a couple of new brushes to get in the crannies. Then just a normal wash and maybe interior clean if I have the time. I'll stick some pics up of the engine bay when I've done it, and I'll also take some of the underside when I have it up on a jack again as it didn't occur to me today - too busy admiring it I think :D

See you found the ///M badge. THe one on the other side is the right way up. Guessing the only made one and just turned it upside down for the other side.

One was for Euro spec the other for the Aussie spec

Look amazing and squeaky clean!

Thank you :D

PVR - I think I'll need to bring it back to yours for a pre-winter clean around Sept/Oct time, as I don't have such posh cleaning accoutrements

Oh, and when I was looking at the headlight levelling sensors earlier everything still looks very nice indeed

The philanthropist in me is yelling yeah, sure... The chap who actually did it knows what a ball-ache it is, especially considering you can't see what you've achieved when you put the wheels back on :headbang:

Lol you know it's done that's the main thing. I bought my son a wee polo to learn to drive in. So tomorrow while i'am sitting feet up telling him what to do on his polo, wheels off & clean arches & paint calipers & hubs, clean & seal wheels. If he makes a good job off it, he can do the zed over the weekend lol :D

I have no idea what that means, but the answer is 'no' :P

Staying kind of on-topic... Just took the air filter out to check it, and it definitely needed a clean.

This is after a gentle tap :

The filter is still very dirty :

And this is the entire contents with a screw driver bit in for reference (it's at least twice as deep as the bit is thick) :

Bit of a ball-ache to buy the cleaning kit (£20), clean, leave to dry, then re-oil (included in the kit), but PVR did actually give me an OEM filter which means I can still drive the car. And of course all good aural requires care, effort and adhering to any instructions provided

No polishing or waxing has been required. Just wash and dry... The skirts are not treated, so I will get round to waxing them eventually I guess. I really need to get a DI vessel soon though, so that I don't have to even dry the car, otherwise no matter how careful I am I'll get more and more swirls over time.

The only other thing I've done is twice apply some magical Protech slippery stuff - I have no idea what it is as PVR got it for me in NL when he got his porker done and the instructions are literally all Dutch to me. It's wipe on / wipe off, takes maybe 15-20 mins to do the car, and once it's done the paintwork feels exactly as if it's been waxed. The paintwork beads all the time, but this stuff makes it even beadier. But it's not wax :? Must be magic...

Nah, thanks for the offer Stevo but I'm going to keep it. Right next to WBs baby teeth :D
