MFSW trim - new or refurb?

I took mine apart, rubbed them down and applied a few coats of Halfords matt black. Easy enough job and only costs for some wet and dry, masking tape and a can of paint. Decent enough finish but unfortunately won't last forever.

I did the same. Matt black Halfords with a clear coat on top.

Not rubbery at all

Only photo I have I'm afraid...

Looks good! Though I should have been clearer that I wanted to retain the rubbery feel on the button trims, rest looks good with matte though!

Takes about half a day of work (lot's of drying time between coats). I would park the car for two days to do it, so everything is properly hardened when you're installing the trim back. Have some quick setting epoxy ready as some of the trim will break.

I used:

800, 1200, 1600 sanding paper
1x Halfords Plastic Primer (3 coats)
1x Halfords Black Paint (2 coats)
1x Halfords Matt Lacquer (3 coats)

Do you have to take the airbag off to remove the cover?

I'd love to do mine silver/chrome.

You have to remove the airbag first to remove all of the trim pieces. Although my centre trim piece was broken so could be removed without removing the airbag.

Anyone refurb these still on selling a set in black? Mine are looking pretty worn :(
Didn't Dietcokeman use to offer a refurb service for these? Is he no longer on here?

Thanks. I've already fixed the centre piece without removing the airbag but I've not had the side pieces off yet. Maybe a Christmas task.
