MFSW Issue

I am having a problem with my MFSW. I installed the MFSW and retrofit cable about 8-9 months ago.

when I press the volume down button - the radio changes up 1 track / 1 station as if I pressed the track up button on the wheel. :headbang:

If I hold the volume down button - the same thing happens, but the volume also goes down. :o

How is it possible for this 1 button to have 2 functions? and is there any way to fix this?
 
Sounds a bit weird if it's previously been working fine. Software issue maybe? Not sure it's even linked but can't imagine what else it could be.
 
I'd take it off and check the wiring - almost sounds like a couple of the wires have been pinched / spliced and connecting through the boss.
 
Hmm - ps - that was my first thought but isn't there just 1 can bus wire that runs along to all the buttons and receives a different message from each button?

If there are separate wires for each button you may be onto sumthing. I know the retrofit cable is only 2 wires, so all the buttons wires must converge sum where inside the wheel right?

Sounds like I will have to remove the airbag to investigate, but I'm on a camping trip this weekend :(
