MFSW controls or Parrot MKI9100

Hi all,

Enjoying the forum loads since joining a week ago - soooo much useful info. Also giving me a bit of the modding bug, hence this post :-)

My 2003 3.0i doesn't have steering wheel controls. I'm finding I do miss them, and am contemplating a retrofit. However, after reading some posts I like the look of the Parrot MKI9100 as a possible alternative.

Question is, with all that the parrot remote does, is there really a need for the multifunction controls as well? I'm thinking if I mount the parrot remote somewhere very handy, or even on the steering wheel with the strap that is available for it, will that give me more or less all the functions of the MFSW?

Cheers

I installed the MKI9000 as mine came without the blue-tooth integration and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the system. I have MFSW already and I so I also got the integration box for the parrot and MFSW. For me it's perfect cause there's nothing that doesn't look OE on the dash. I tucked the parrot remote in the pull down cubby box and stuck it on the lid so I can access it if required.

With the MFSW I can make calls / hang up, increase / decrease volume and skip / previous track if I'm streaming music. However - If I didn't have the MFSW - the parrot remote is far more powerful as you then have the options of selecting the other inputs / features that Parrot intended you to be able to do. I don't really stream music as I have the Intravee II installed too so use that instead.

Personally - wouldn't go to the norse of installing the MFSW if the only reason is for the parrot, but I also wouldn't install the remote on the steering wheel - but that's a personal choice.

Many thanks - exactly the info I was looking for. I didn't think I could be bothered with the hassle of fitting the MFSW controls and the Parrot seems to be able to do as much. I don't really mind the non-OEM look as long as everything works nicely. So off to Amazon and Ebay to see if I can pick up a polly for myself.

Thanks again!!
