Meguires headlight restoration kit - e85 tryout

First thing I decided to tackle was the headlights after getting on the halfords 3 for 2 offer (with 2x Autoglym clay kits)

Here it is masked and ready to go.....

Need to go again as I went carefully for the first attempt although a positive result is visible....

One thing I was slightly disappointed with was the size of the sanding pads (very small squares and double sided with the next finer grade). Would prefer all drill mounted sanding rather than by hand (may need to try the Autoglym headlight kit)but a good start.

That looks pretty good. I got good results simply using a very fine compounding product and then applied a wax finish - time will tell!

I used the Meguiars kit as well and got very good results. Didn't even have to use the sanding pads, the polishing compound with polishing drill attachment was enough to get mine crystal clear again.

I used this kit as well and the best advice I would suggest is take your time, I spent an hour on each light and they came up like new and I finished them off with a good coat of wax and sealant same as you would put on the paintwork.
Every time I polish the car now I also do the headlights including the rear lights.

Similar. Always wax over lights, front and back, when I do the rest of the car. Comes up trumps every time. It may seem weird, but I also waxed the front screen and amazed how long rain and crap off lorries just bounced off without even turning the wipers on. Crystal clear vision and no smearing whatsoever when you do have wipers on. Effect seems to last a good while too before 'back to normal'.
