Mayo inside oil cap-

my dad had this on his 330 and when he took it too the stealers to get it checked out they said it will be doing this because of the short journeys as the oil/water will not get fully up to temperature and will be condenseing and sweating. if your not care full you could cause some major problems but caught early enough a one a week run of 20 30 miles should clear it all up. short journeys do not do the engine good.
 
Cheers guys,i rang my indy to book in for a compression test to see if anything wrong -i was told he could say 100% its nothing to worry about and caused by short trips -may still get him to take a look early jan when my mot due.

So basically after several experts told you it was nothing, you didn't trust any of them and called an indy anyway and when he says it's nothing, you still plan on pursuing it again in January :poke:
 
Andy, the solution to your problem is simple - do what I do once a week, which is offer to nip out for milk and fags in the afternoon at the weekend, and come back 40 miles and an hour later with a big grin on your face. The guys who know about these things have said your car NEEDS this, and she will love you for it. Your car that is, not your wife :wink:

I nood to do some Santa drops totalling about 1000 miles between now & Xmas, so if u fill up your baby am willing to put myself out to give your Zed some well needed exercise across the country, inclusive of photographs from the different constabularies delivered to your door to show how well she's running... :poke:

Wow -i didnt get the chance to come on here yesterday,and all the abuse i have missed :cry: -thanks for all your comments,im just a fretter that thinks just because everyone knows its because of short runs,that until i get it tested i cant be 100% sure :oops: (i mean how can my indy know without looking/testing-he says he knows these engines)-also i noticed a bit of steam out of the back but i hope thats down to it being cold :cry:

Ha thanks for that mate,its just that i get a stoopid idea in my head,then look for faults,sat in traffic i noticed varying degrees of 'steam' from different cars-is it true if you can see your breath in the cold its ok for your exhaust to do it?-
 
I'd have thought so Andy - if I was as hot as my exhaust I'd be booking myself in for a service at the local A&E...

Steam is normal in the cold :thumbsup:
