Matthew's 2007 Z4 2.0 Sport

Hi,

After selling my Golf GTI on Saturday, I went on the hunt for a Z4 this morning. I had a few "must haves" to find; facelift, full service history, less than 80,000 miles and under £7,500.

I went to see two cars today that fit this. The first was a 2006 2.5 Z4 Sport in silver. This was the first choice due to the engine, however when I got there, it's general condition was tatty. Scratches, stone chips, rear tyres very worn, cabin smelt of smoke, headlight clouded from the inside.

The worst thing was the engine; it was SO loud. Tap tap tap tap. Really bad. After some Google research and a thread on here it became apparent it had the "dreaded tapping" fault on this engine which is a major repair. Needless to say I decided to walk away.

The next car was a 2007 Z4 2.0 Sport in dark blue (not sure what the name is). This was newer and less miles, also had a full service history. It wasn't the engine I would have wanted but after a good test drive, it felt fine. So after some negotiation I managed to bag some winter discount ;)

Picking the car up on Tuesday with a full 12 months MOT and six months tax. Also with 3 month warranty :)

Some iPhone pictures.

I will keep this thread updated with any progress and/or mods I make during the course of my ownership.

Heyyyy you got one ! That was fast work mate. Lovely looking motor to. Good spec ? 2.0 is is enough for todays roads its hard to find a time and place to really open up the power on the bigger engines although superb when you do ;)

Thanks everyone! I'm really pleased with it. Just some stone chips on the front which I'm sure are fairly standard for these, given the shape of the front?

Matthew - looks like you got the Sport version with M sport seats, steering wheel, suspension and wheels?

You'll love it - the 2.0i Sport is an under-rated model in my opinion - you can have fun revving it out and exploring it's full potential. The engine is very smooth and strong. Mine keeps coming back for more and don't be afraid to use 2nd and 3rd to enjoy the full 150 bhp and you'll be fine.

Great looking in a dark colour - good choice!

:driving:

Welcome! Fellow 2.0 sport (mine PY but sport spec too) and you will love it! As peoples have said underestimated engine wise but for plodding about and general fun the nothing wrong with it.

Any plans long term or staying as she is?

Scotty

You have to pry it off, be careful not to scratch the paintwork in the process.

Plans will be keeping it OEM and just generally well maintained and clean!

Ill be looking to get a cover for the hood and replacing the rear boot badge. That's about it to be honest.

I take it you just stick the new badge on with some form of silicon glue? No clips etc?

As far as I remember, it's clipped in.

Oh and welcome to a fellow 2.0 owner :D

If you are planning any mods at all, I would recommend a new backbox first followed my runflat removal. The exhaust has been the single most rewarding mod I've had done to the car.
