Mars Performance Angel eyes - Anyone have them?

Ive been wanting a set of black background headlights since I got my car and have always been partial to angel eyes but in CCFL format, not LED.

I know there are numerous threads to DIY your own set but quite frankly, I dont really have the time and neither do I fancy butchering my own headlamps!

I noticed a few months back that someone has released some aftermarket angel eyes with CCFL's but in LHD format so I kind of gave up on the idea for a bit, but I have just come across these:

Z4 angel eyes with CCFL halos out of Australia. Now given they drive on the left as we do, Im guessing there is a pretty decent chance they are RHD units. Not cheap by any stretch of the imagination. £435 for the Halogen versions, £495 for the HID versions, plus £125 shipping and no doubt Mr Tax man will have his import and VAT when they knock on your door so probably another £120 odd there.... meaning £675ish for the halogens!!! :o

that said... I am pondering it! They certainly look a hell of a lot better than the LED versions and to my eye from pics alone, better built also.

Anyone have any experience with them?

Not quite, the Sonar/2xcite ones have LED rings. These are CCFL rings. I messaged 2xcite some time ago but they don't carry CCFL based units for the Z4. The housing does look ver similar though yes.

So perhaps these come from the same factory? Why not mod the Sonar ones with CCFLs if they're a must?

Having just finished 'butchering' my own headlamps I guess I can understand your reticence (but I'm well pleased with the results on mine).
I looked at these Mars CCFL lights for a long time - especially since they're only just over the ditch in Aussie so not far to get them shipped to me. But, the high price put me off (and shipping still wasn't exactly cheap), and I'd be taking a gamble as to getting pinged by customs and having to pay another 15% GST (VAT) on top.
So, although I think they look really nice, I couldn't justify the cost.
Actually, I suppose I'm a bit of a muppet for not upgrading to CCFL when I had my headlights open, instead of refitting the LEDs...

Sorry, I did see the not butchering comment, but it's either that or pay a couple of hundred extra, hence my unclear why not.
