marks on hood

i'll deal with some photos but in the short term are there normally crease /rub marks near
on the back of the hood where it bends to go down about 6 ins away from the window?
only done 7000 miles - second car and a year old. some of them look like friction marks

Take it you clean and brush the hood regularly as dust and dirt can act like sandpaper when going up and down.

This is something that i want to prevent going to get a brush for mine.

Mine did this too, cleaning/treating the roof does help to a degree, but it's hard to stop it TBH and you can always see the marks. It probably gets worse if your car lives outside.
 
so the answer is to buy a new car

do other people have this problem?


the roof mechanism also creaks as it goes up and down.......

yes a Merc SLK will solve this particular issue.

I have some of the marks you show above but not the middle one, which seems to be the most worrying
 
given the price of the car and expectation of quality they are all annoying and if its like that after 7000 miles and a year what will it
deteriorate to next!
 
Difficult to judge from photos as the camera can increase or decrease the apparant severity of the marks. I did however have pretty much identical on mine last year. Removed with a bit of gentle brushing, Raggtop cleaner and protector.

I hate to think what they will come out like when I take the hard top off after a Winter of being crushed and friction on the folds. :(
 
Mine is like this as well when the roof has been down a long time.

My roof was also very dirty when I bought the car, I vax'ed and left to dry then treated with Fabseal, which is a tent fabric conditioner/waterproofer.

Now the water runs off like mad, even in heavy rain.... The snow this weekend was funny as it slid off in one lump :lol:
