Manual Roof Operation Question

I knew this was coming as the roof motor has been slowing down over the past couple months. While it will still unlatch fine, the motor that pulls it back finally crapped out completely. I'll wait until the spring to replace the motor, but the weather here in Virgina is gorgeous this time of year and I would hate to miss out on some great top down cruises.

My questions:
Can I manually override the hydraulic motor via the red pull cord in the trunk for daily top up/down or should the manual override only be used in "emergency" situations? Could it cause more damage to use the manual override often?

Will the red cord in the trunk also override the ability for the roof to unlatch so I would then have to use the allen wrench to latch it manually?

Thanks a lot for any help you can give me.

If it still unlatches then all you need to do is use the red pull cord, no need to use the Allen key. All the cord does is disengage the hydraulics, nothing else. I had mine pulled for at least a couple of months when my roof motor went. Just be careful moving the roof by hand, if you are on your own always reach over and hold it in the middle so that you don't twist the mechanism. Otherwise with two of you, one either side works

Oh, and don't forget to press the down or up button again when the roof is in place to lock it there.
