Manual operation of roof

This has possibly been discussed before, but I can't find any answering my specific question.

I had my roof motor relocated to the boot by the good guys in Tow Law, thanks to finding them via this forum.

The (bowden?) Manual release cable had corroded and snapped, so is no longer attached.

I had an issue last week where the roof wouldn't close, but after a quick search on here, I fiddled around with the brass pin thing on the motor (manual bypass pin?) which didn't seem stuck, but was a bit sticky.

Long story short, the roof went back up on the switch, but if it won't close again, for whatever reason, will I be able to operate the roof manually given the cable is no longer attached? I don't fancy having it stuck down given the frequency of rain in Glasgow!

Thanks in advance,

Colin.

The manual release cable only pushed that brass plunger in. If you get stuck again you will need to get someone to push that plunger in and hold it while you manually lift the roof. A faff but easily doable provided you're not completely on your own.

I wonder if the brass plunger had been knocked? Can't see any other reason it would fail then work again.

By the way, your username brings back some odd memories for me.
During Gulf 1, 'Colpro' was an abbreviation of Collective Protection, basically NBC-proof tents set up inside buildings in case Saddam got a bit carried away. Sobering thought at the time.

Not sure if it had been. Its behind a wee carpeted flap since being relocated and nothing would have nudged it, though where the brass pin is, is against the side panel, so unless a change in temperature made something happen.

Who knew my username would be so edgy!? 😄
Merely, my name is Colin and I'm a golf pro. Not quite so volatile, though I have launched a few Titleist missiles in my time.
