Hi Fellas

Summer’s heading swiftly our way and we’re ready to launch our next Trackaction-Online club trackday! On Saturday September 5th we will be running an open pitlane at Mallory Park and all Z4 forum members are invited to come along!

Mallory is a great venue, not too hard to learn but still plenty challenging enough to keep you interested all day and it’s pretty central so not as much of a trek to get to as places like Cadwell and Croft! We will be limiting numbers to make sure that everyone can get plenty of tracktime, and free instruction will be available on the day so it’s the perfect day out whether you are a novice or a regular track-monkey. This is a 98db event so we aren't expecting any monster Evos etc and we are looking forward to seeing the same friendly atmosphere that our drift and trackdays always seem to develop.

The list price for the day is £195 but as usual we have agreed a discount for club members and there is an extra bonus for booking early. The club rate is £180 but the first ten places booked will get an extra £30 off and the next twenty will get £15 off so they will pay £150 and £165 respectively. Obviously we expect these places to go fairly quickly so to give everyone a fair chance we will be activating the discounts on Saturday June 6th at 9am and then it’s first come, first served for the cheaper places!

You can book at our shop HERE!! but to get the cheaper rate you’ll need a discount code so please shout up on this thread if you’d like to come and I’ll PM you the details.

Hope a few of you can make it!

Cheers

Could you drop me the discount code.

Question though - it will be my first track day - i am going to try and get a bit of training in before hand - heard Mallory is not too demanding, might be the slowest around the track but being as it is so close really cannot say no, is this ok for a beginner?

Only live 5 mile away, but never been down there. Can we bring other cars at the discount price - the other half might want to bring the 350Z as well?

Hi Inuit

I'll PM the code through to you. We also do the club rate for the 350z site (they are mad for the driftdays that we run  ) so you can book Mrs Inuits car with the same code no problem.

Don't worry too much about getting training in advance unless you want to anyway, we will have two very good instructors there who can go out with you and make sure you get the best out of the day. Mallory is a decent track for a first-timer and it doesn't matter if you are the slowest or fastest out there, we run strict overtaking rules that ensure that everyone can get round at their own pace without any problems.

Thanks for the PM, looks good.

Do i need to book the instructors? I was going to going to do a limit handling course, but if you have people that can help me out it would be far cheaper and more fun to get some some tution while at Mallory.

Also insterested in the drift days are they on the website? Mrs (me) drives the Z - Mr (paul) drives the 350z and he has always fancied trying drifting - got several sets of part worn tyres for the 350z for this purpose, he has just never got around to booking a course, so if Mallory does them it would be perfect for him. Nice to get rid of those tyres out the garage.

Also what about insurance, not sure i will be going fast enough, but just in case, is there onsite insurance or it best to get my own and what is the best way, or do most people skip the insurance?

PM sent to Klarky  .

You can book a session with an instructor on the day. we start off with a drivers briefing and then we do sighting laps which are at a steady pace behind a course car and then the day is run open pit. The ideal is to do a session on your own just to get a feel for where the circuit goes and then get an instructor in with you but if you are a bit nervous then it's no problem to book one for straight after the sighting laps and he'll get you settled in. The instruction is all about how to handle a car on track without exceeding the limits - obviously as you get more experienced this happens at ever increasing speeds  .

The driftdays are run at Oulton Park and you don't need spare tyres due top the special surface on the drift courses - it causes virtually zero tyre wear! The thread from our last day there is HERE so have a read and if you fancy a go our next one is on July 25th - I'll be posting a thread soon.

Most trackday drivers don't get separate insurance but it is available on a day by day basis from some specialist insurers so whilst I don't personally bother if you wanted a quote you can give Mark a call at CCI on 0115 9416184, he is a decent guy and if you tell him you are going to a Trackaction-Online event you should be able to get a discount  . The club may also have an approved broker who can help you with this.

Hope this all helps!

I went to one of these events in South Africa a while back... I didn't participate but it looked great fun!

Steve, do you have any pics you could post?

Quick bump, we are now selling the last of the £165 places so shout up if you want one before the price goes up to £180 :?

Less than one week to go now and the weather forecast is looking good 8)

There’s still some spaces left so shout up if you want to come along and I’ll send you a discount code, we’ve also now released a few half day slots priced at £110 so if anyone wants one of them just CLICK HERE and get it booked in.

Any spaces that are left on the day will be available for cash sales but no club discounts on Saturday as they are for web bookings only.

Hope to see some of you there!

Steve H

Full rate is £195, £180 is the club discounted price that is currently available on the website. All the £150 and £165 spaces went a while ago. So long as there are still spaces left, you can book on the website up to lateish Friday afternoon but any remaining after that are £195 on Saturday.

We allow for each car being on track for about 1/2 of the time although you might do slightly more than that if you are only in for the half day; the sessions will be around 3 1/2 hours long so two hours on circuit is realistic. A lot depends on how your car stands sustained running and how well you are used to it!

I am selling my space - will take anything over £75 - it is the full day, PM me, something has come up and i cannot make it. Did these guys drift day and it was great and was going to swap to another of those, but cannot make that day either now. They are happy for me to sell. Make me an offer, I am a bit annoyed i cannot make it especially as it is down the road.

Sorry to hear that you aren't going to be able to make it, £75 is a total bargain but we will also be running a trackday back up at Oulton on the full international circuit in November if you wanted to swap to that.......

just to add onto this - the day was excellent, as much track time as you could want, very friendly bunch of drivers and even the rain stayed off until the very end. ive totally got the bug, looking for a cheap track car now, taking the z4 round was awesome, even on rft's it has a hell of a lot of grip, i had to be really aggressive (for me) to get the tail out. over cooked it on my last run and had a heart in my mouth moment staring at the armco by the hair pin, im hoping a pic or video turns up of it too see how bad i lost the tail. big range of cars there gt3, m3, clio cup racer, various s2000's, caterham style stuff - all sorts !. was interesting following an atom for about 3 corners before he went off into the distance. also followed one of the organisers mr2 through Gerard's corner and found an extra 5mph to carry through.

track days could be my new (expensive) hobby. just rounding up stuff to put on ebay to raise funds, anyone want a sony alpha 200 dslr??? its worth about half a track slag lol

Glad you enjoyed yourself Klarky, we had a great day at Mallory Park, dry all day, no queues to get on track and great driving by everyone out there!

Here are a couple of snaps from the day –

Our next trackday is at the fabulous Oulton Park on Nov 13th

Hope some of you can make it along!
