M54b30 Track Prep

Hey everyone,

I’m slowly in the process of turning my car into a somewhat track capable car. New brakes, suspension, tires, etc. I want to hit the track either end of this year or early next year but I want to do it the right way. Meaning do all proper maintenance first and then get the necessary mods. In the process of doing that, I wanted to know how many of you guys are running an oil baffle? I’ve tried combing the threads for a definitive answer but it seems as though it’s all mixed. Some people say just run 1qt extra oil and others say the baffle is necessary. My end goal for the car would be for it to remain my daily driver, but be track capable. I’m not looking for the fastest lap or anything like that. I just want to be a better driver and enjoy the car. If it helps I’d be driving tracks like Thunderhill east and Laguna as they’re the closest. As well as the oil baffle, how much of a difference do poly fcab’s make? Is it significant or is it just better to buck up and get monoballs or remain oem? I’d love to hear about any track related mods for reliability, safety, or something that made the car better. Any help is greatly appreciated and looking forward to learning.
