M54 oil leak

Are there a common set of places where the m54 leaks from?
I thought it might be the oil level sensor so took off the under tray and the bigass bit of metal bracing and replaced it.
The bottom end of the engine, was cleaned thoroughly with degreaser and steam, I even -owed in under the subframe and around the steering rack with rags on a stick and my EZ wheel brush.

2 weeks later covered again. Very much front of the engine and quite high up as it’s all over the alternator bracket. But I do park nose down.

I used me seals on the oil drain plug and obviously the new level sensor came with a new seal

Yeah, deffo oil filter housing gasket… well I say that I’ve not run the car yet but the old gasket was stiff and fairly compacted. Compared to the new one.

Tbh this was a really easy job to do.Pop the filter off which gave all residual oil time to drin, Airbox off, tensioner off, both idler pulleys off, housing off, clean, and refit.

Only 2 issues. The first being it was a right pain in the arse to clean all the parts and side of the engine up without parts washer. Just perseverance, brake cleaner, and a brush. (I wish I had access to a solid CO2 blaster thingy). The second is now I need new 2 new idlers, a tensioner, and a belt cos they all sound/look a bit shagged

Did you do thos job without taking off the alternator? Also, the coolant pipe to access the pulleys and belt?

It's a job I have been putting off but need to get to soon

Tbh not done them yet, but when I had it all apart I did have all the coolant system out including the rad so access was easy. I’d be inclined to take the fans out when I do do it which is fairly easy

To do the oil filter upstand gasket yes you have to take the alternator off
