M54 Intake Manifold Question

What is the bracket that sits on top of the intake manifold? Is it part of the manifold itself or just a bracket for the engine cover?

Seen a couple of turbo builds without it, and I would like to remove as it gives it a much cleaner look.

I believe this piece equalizes the pressures between each intake runner. I would guess that you could remove it but you would have to figure out a way to block off the six holes in the manifold once it was removed.

I think the ones I’ve seen are probably modified with CCV delete with the holes plugged and converted to a catch can setup.

I’ll have to think if it’s worth the effort for a cleaner engine bay
