m5

I'd scratch your itch with the much cheaper & disposable e39 M5 -.

My 2000 e39 M5 was brilliant....I wish i still had it....
However, you need to have a deep pocket when things go wrong.....which are rare....so long as the Vanos had been replaced already or has no issues....

Why not go for an m6, for some reason they seem cheaper second hand then the m5, with the spare change you could get a warranty.... And you still have a convertible!

One car won't do it all Woots - too many compromises (tried that a few times and i always come back to 2).

IMO you'd be better off keeping the Zed and buying something like a 330d for other duties.

Cheers

Passat R36 Estate?!

Just thinking outside the box!

Or maybe a C63 AMG if you've a few more pennies!

BMW are doing good PCP deals on the M135i.

It obviously lists for a fair bit more than your £20k budget but they are throwing in 4 years of servicing and full warranty with the deal so in the long run I bet it would be cheaper than any of these big 5ers or an e90 M3 over the duration of ownership. You can make the figures work for you with a deposit that will be lower than the equity in the car at the end of the deal.

I seriously considered an e60 545i/550i and even found a few manuals for sale, but I just couldn't afford to take the risk with one of them. Running costs/mpg would've scared me too much too.

As for the e60 M5 - love it but never in a million years would I consider one unless I could afford a fully comprehensive warranty. Utterly amazing engine note :)

Woots,as others have said,i 535d m-sport would be a good possibility...but why are u thinking of getting rid of the M,after barely a year of ownership? surely the Mrs cant dislike it that much, lol?

Dont think u will get a car to do the sensible thing, while being comfortable, etc, and giving u the thrills of a z4/M??

Alpina d3 maybe?

She DESPISES my car, she can bearly cope with a 3 mile journey through town in it....im not kidding, i ONCE went through the guildford tunnel in it, window down 3rd gear and half throttle i accelerated up a few times to hear it...nd she hit her head on the headrest, and threatened me not to do it again lol

hmmm i her what ppl are saying about the 550i....prob dont need all that, did see a nice 535d though which im sure most would agree is all the car id ever need, i did think about the 135i...but i just dont think i could live with knowing im gonna suffer all tht depreciation...and im not taken on its looks...

just beware high powered diesels/twin turbos/DPF's /swirl flaps etc . . if you only do short journeys ( less than 30 mins & under 70mph for the majority )
they just don't like the going & create problems

335i/335d?

I'm finding my 330i quick enough, can only imagine a 3351/d would be immense.
