Hey Guys,

I really recommend the above mentioned upgrade for our Z4's!

If you enjoy DIY, bricolage and are willing to spare more than a couple of hours to get the best results possible, the results can be great.
I think I did well and it looks 100% OEM.

The gear knob itself is heavier, more chunky and provides that precise gear shift feeling the original cannot match.

Below you will find a couple of pictures, because we all like pictures :D

Top mod!
I went for the non- illum version in my car and matching black handbrake to give some contrast to the cream leather interior.
Love your illuminated one - really nice change

Is the best mod I have done to mine. Same a ZHP bar it is iluminated line the standard knob in the Z4M.

Looks like you got the front edge properly recessed where mine is slightly raised due to the stitching at the front of the gait or rather than the rear.

Top job.

Your leatherworking skills are better than mine. Toward the front mine doesn't clip in fully and sit flush. Still looks awesome and 100% OE.

Hi, just to add to this, I've recently retrofitted the F10 to replace a damaged original (one of the plastic clips inside the gear knob had broken causing it to move on the stem).

Very happy with the result: shorter shift and better illumination.

Can't post pics.. will do if I figure it out.

Bit of potentially useful info for those considering this: I didn't glue the new boot on at all. I wanted to try fitting it in first and glue later once it was adjusted. However, since it clipped into place right away I didn't bother taking it out to glue again.

Is there not an illuminated version of the ZHP?

Top job btw OP, my mate did this the other day, really nice mod.

Not available from BMW anymore apparently , gotta wait for one to pop up on eBay . Then we can all bid against each other ...... I want one !

That's the point the F10 knob is available from BMW and is identical to ZHP except you get the new gaitor as well with better leather.

I reserected this thread to show someone pictures of the mod as I couldn't figure out how to show the link in his original thread. :D

Thanks. Was me. Hope to order one tomorrow.

Does the old shift gaitor just pull off the console. Or are there hidden clips? Mine seems pretty tight, and I don't want to break anything
