M3 or M4??

Hi guys,

So after having my e89 for 18 months I have decided to get rid of it. I have completely fallen out of love with it (mainly because I bought an 18i).

I am going to go for a new/ex demo M3 or M4 but finding it hard to decide which one... I have always been a fan of coupe's but for some reason I am more attracted to the M3 (saloon).

What would you guys go for?? I have no restrictions in terms of practicality (no kids etc).

Test drive a 35iS before you decide :).

If you're set on M3/M4 I think I'd go M3 - not based on anything other than personal preference - M4 seems a bit more old man :)

M3 :)

Don't be put off by the sound of them on start up though.......they sound horrific i have heard better sounding diesels!

I thought the M4 sounded superb on start up

Really.... have you heard one in the flesh?

Myself and a few friends had an M4 Vert to review for a few weeks over xmas and i was really disappointed in the sound on start up/low rev's it sounded pretty good up in the revs though :)

The last car we reviewed before the M4 was an AM V12 Vantage S on a weekend in wales so maybe the V12 spoiled me a bit so i was a bit bias/unfair.

But engine note aside it was a lovely machine and was silly fast and comfortable, my favourite point on the whole car we tested was the illuminated M badges on the front seats that welcomed you at night when you unlocked it

Yep, in the flesh. In the showroom before I took it out for a spin

M3 looks better than the M4 IMO

Have you thought about holding on for the new C63?

If his budgets for an ex demo M3 or M4 then that won't make the list, they don't budge much in value until they get a bit older

I absolutely love the c63 and have been thinking about buying it for the last year...

However, now that the new shape is coming out I wouldn't buy an old one and as Angie4m said, it will most probably be too expensive.

I wanted the M3 as soon as it came out but the prices were too high and there was a waiting list. The deals for ex demo M3's are quite good right now. Can get fully loaded 14 plate with 1k miles on it for under 50k (depending on the dealer)

I am leaning towards the M3, theres just something about it which makes it look more sporty and "meaner".

It's such a tough decision especially as this will be my most expensive car purchase!

Let's change the subject a bit.... What car would you guys buy if you had 50K spare to spend on anything?? (Has to be less than a year old and under 5k miles)

The new M3 doesn't look better when it's moving.

Standing still though, and it's a whole different story

Tough question, I guess it depends what you need it for, I would look at Porsche and Audi and BMW and see what I fancied. Maybe an rs4 or a nice Cayman
